Bremerton, WA - Bremerton Housing Authority and Housing Kitsap is opening their Section 8 Waitlist starting at 11:00 a.m., May 16. Individuals and families will be able to apply for the waitlist anytime online with their smartphones, tablets or computer with a valid email.
With homelessness on the rise, Bremerton Housing Authority is expecting over 2000 people to apply. In Kitsap County's Heading Home updated report from 2019, before the pandemic it was reported that 680 households were new to homelessness. At the height of the pandemic, Foundation for Homeless & Poverty Management helped households with back rent totaling over $300,000.
Bremerton Housing Authority has made the application accessible online through RENTCafé. New applicants must register through RENTCafé to get on the waitlist. Applicants just need a valid email address and social security numbers to apply.
Locations throughout Kitsap county will be available to support individuals and families who do not have internet access including FHPM's Rejuvenation Community Day Center (Old Olympic View Medical Center) location. The day center will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily to provide internet-connected computers to help those who do not have technology to apply for the Section 8 waitlist online.
